Affected regions / cells: Git operations, Actions, Packages, Codespaces and API are separate components. 'GitHub is down' is usually one of those.

3. Plain-English workaround
From experience
If git push fails and the website loads, wait — do not rebase yourself into a corner. Actions being red does not stop you committing locally. Use SSH if HTTPS auth is the thing that broke.
4. Upstream or scheduled?
Vendors do not publish one shared dependency map. This list is the upstream tools we watch with this service.
- Azure OperationalGitHub is a Microsoft property and sits with Azure. Actions/codespaces incidents are often named separately from git operations.

Practical splits
- git push fails, github.com loads. Wait. Do not rebase yourself into a corner. Try SSH if HTTPS auth is the thing that broke.
- Actions red, laptop commits fine. Keep working locally. CI is not git.
- SSO / PAT expired on the org. Authorisation, not an outage. The error text usually says so.
- GitHub.com 500 for everyone. Now the public board matters.
