Operational

Official status page

Azure outage status by region from the official RSS, plus what to check before you fail over.

1. Is it down right now?

Feed last built 5 Oct, 08:55 UTC. We only surface items from the last 72 hours and skip titles marked resolved.

Affected regions / cells: Azure publishes by region (East US, UK South, West Europe, …). An East US event is not a European outage.

2. Known bug — is a fix date published?

No known bug with a published fix date right now.

No open incident in the last successful fetch.

3. Plain-English workaround

From experience

Read the region on the incident before you fail over the world. If the portal is the only thing broken, Azure CLI / PowerShell and resource traffic may still be fine. If us-equivalent regions are listed, check whether your SaaS vendors (and Entra) pin there.

4. Upstream or scheduled?

Vendors do not publish one shared dependency map. This list is the upstream tools we watch with this service.

No upstream SaaS listed. This is a root provider on our map.

Upcoming maintenance

No upcoming window in the vendor feed.

Read the region before you fail over the world

Azure publishes by region — East US, UK South, West Europe, and the rest. An East US event is not a European outage. We poll the public RSS at azure.status.microsoft. Items marked resolved are dropped. We do not invent a regional verdict if Azure did not name the region.

Portal vs data plane

  • portal.azure.com will not load while VMs and storage still answer. Use Azure CLI or PowerShell. The portal is a website; it is not the region.
  • Cannot connect to a VM or SQL in one region. That is the data plane. Check whether the RSS title names that region and that product.
  • Entra sign-in failing with Azure. Identity can ride along with some regional events. See Entra ID.

End user vs admin

Most staff never touch Azure. Admins should match subscription, region, and product before they tell the business "Azure is down". Downstream SaaS (Microsoft 365, some vendors) may wobble when the region they pin to is named. Official portal: portal.azure.com.

SaaS sitting on Azure

Microsoft 365, Entra, and GitHub can wobble when Azure names a region they use. We still show each vendor from its own feed. If Azure RSS is quiet and only your subscription is sad, it is quotas, IAM, a private DNS zone, or a deleted route — none of which we can see.

Service Health in the Azure portal is per-subscription. The public RSS is global. Those two views disagree on purpose. Quote the public item on this site; use portal Service Health for your estate.
