From experience
Join from the browser or the phone dial-in before you reinstall the client. If every meeting in one office fails and Zoom's page is green, it is UDP/firewall or a proxy. Client updates mid-morning on a patch Tuesday are a frequent own-goal.

Phone dial-in is the fastest "is Zoom actually up?" test
We poll Zoom's Statuspage (zoomstatus.com) for current status, unresolved incidents and upcoming maintenance. Zoom names components: Meetings, Phone, Webinars, Rooms. A Phone incident is not a Meetings outage. Client updates on a patch Tuesday take out one office and spare the rest of the planet.
What to do with the usual errors
- Error 5003 / cannot connect to the meeting. Browser join or PSTN dial-in. If audio on the phone works, the meeting service is up and the desktop client or UDP path is not.
- Waiting for the host forever. The host is in the wrong account or the meeting ID is recycled. Not global downtime.
- Video frozen, audio OK. Bandwidth or a camera. Same network rule as Teams and Meet.
- zoom.us/test fails for the whole company. Now look at Zoom's board and your egress firewall.
Official join test: zoom.us/test. Admins: account status, cluster, and whether you forced a client version that the vendor just pulled.
Account cluster and client version
Zoom accounts live on clusters. A cluster incident can spare other accounts on the same status page component list. Admins should note the cluster in the ticket. Forced client versions that Zoom later yanked produce office-wide join failures with a green Meetings component.
Webinars, Rooms, Phone, and Contact Center are licensed add-ons. Do not tell the all-hands "Zoom is down" because Phone in one country cannot register. Official board: zoomstatus.com.
