Google Meet outage status, Workspace/GCP upstream, and the network checks that actually fix frozen calls.
1. Is it down right now?
No currently open incidents in the head of the public incidents.json.
Affected regions / cells: Call quality follows the local path to Google. A school proxy that inspects HTTPS will wreck Meet and leave Gmail looking fine.
2. Known bug — is a fix date published?
No known bug with a published fix date right now.
No open incident in the last successful fetch.
3. Plain-English workaround
From experience
Same rule as Teams: chat/calendar invites working and video dying is the network. Dial in, or switch to the phone app on LTE. If nobody can create a meeting, look at Workspace admin and licence assignment first.
4. Upstream or scheduled?
Vendors do not publish one shared dependency map. This list is the upstream tools we watch with this service.
- Google Workspace OperationalMeet is a Workspace app; identity lives with Workspace.
- Google Cloud OperationalMedia paths are Google Cloud.

Meet tile dead, Calendar fine: look at the path, not the invite
We filter Google's Workspace incidents for Meet. Frozen video for one classroom or one office is usually a proxy that inspects HTTPS, blocked UDP, or a guest Wi-Fi that cannot do WebRTC. Official dashboard: Google Workspace Status.
What the UI is trying to say
- Lost connection / reconnecting. Network. Dial in or switch to the phone app on LTE. If PSTN audio works, Meet itself is up.
- You can't create a meeting. Licence, Meet policy, or an OU that never had Meet enabled. Admin console, not a status page.
- Camera in use by another application. Local. Close the other browser profile.
- Your meeting code is invalid. Wrong calendar, a recycled code, or the organiser's licence. Not global downtime.
End user vs admin
Users: Incognito, hardware permissions, phone LTE. Admins: Meet service in Workspace health, whether guests are blocked, and the school/work proxy. Media rides on Google Cloud. Same rule as Teams: chat working and video dying is the network.
Schools and guest Wi-Fi
Content filters that intercept HTTPS break Meet while leaving Gmail looking fine. Chromebook policies that block the camera, and guest networks that disallow UDP, do the same. Test a phone hotspot. If Meet works there, do not file a Google outage.
Recording to Drive can fail when Drive is the product on the dashboard and Meet is green. Read the product name. Official health: Workspace admin console plus the public Apps Status dashboard.
